Bibi Soni Kaur

Soni Kaur comes from a long musical legacy: her maternal great grandfather was the renowned musician, poet, and instrumentalist Giani Gian Singh Almast Ji; Mata Ranjit Kaur Bedi ji, Soni’s Nani ji, still recites these memorized bandishaan today. Soni can play a myriad of instruments, from dilruba to sitar, but prefers vocal as part of her reyaaz. As the founder of the Almast Sangeet Academy, she teaches vocal and instrumental music. Her future aspirations include obtaining a PhD in musicology. She is delighted to share the Raag Darbar stage with recognized Panthic Raagis and aspires for the day when women will also sing at Darbar Sahib ji.
