Bhai Inderjit Singh Khalsa was a renowned Hazoori Raagi and respected figure in the world of Gurmat Sangeet. Born in 1958, he formally studied Gurmat Sangeet at Punjabi University Patiala from 1980 to 1982, followed by a four-year classical music degree from Bharatiya Sangeet Academy in Bombay.

He began his kirtan seva in Bombay in 1984. In 2000, the SGPC appointed him to Sri Paonta Sahib, followed by Sri Dukh Nivaran Sahib, Patiala in 2002. In 2004, he was assigned to Sri Harimandar Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, where he served as a Hazoori Raagi for many years. His voice and dedication became a daily part of spiritual life for countless devotees.

Bhai Inderjit Singh Khalsa also traveled extensively, performing kirtan across the UK, North America, and other countries, connecting global sangats to the tradition of raag-based shabad kirtan. He was affectionately known as “Bombay Wale” for his early service in Mumbai.

He passed away in June 2025. His funeral and final rites were held on June 20, 2025, in Hayward, California, with a divaan held at Fremont Gurdwara Sahib.

Bhai Sahib leaves behind a lasting legacy of devotion, classical excellence, and humble service in the tradition of Sikh kirtan.
